Faig Ahmed participated in the 11th Mercosul Visual Arts Biennial, The Atlantic Triangle, with the large-scale installation 10(–35).

The biennial explored the historical and cultural connections between America, Africa, and Europe, tracing the routes and exchanges that have linked the three continents for more than five centuries. Within this context, Ahmed’s work referred to the historical search for new routes to the East as an alternative to the ancient Silk Road.

In 10(–35), the fringes of an Azerbaijani carpet become the central element of the installation. As in traditional carpet weaving, the tension of the threads is fundamental: when unevenly stretched on the loom, they can cause irreversible deformation of the carpet. Ahmed extends this principle into space, transforming the exposed warp into the structural and conceptual core of the work. The installation, in the artist’s words, concentrates “the human power and energy of everyone involved in its creation.”
